Funding Infrastructure Renewal – White Paper

This paper is intended for use by organizations that own and maintain large-scale infrastructure. The purpose of this paper is to outline a process for funding infrastructure renewal for the long term.

This paper was written with reference to several related documents and best management practices.

The process outlined in this paper includes methods for developing an asset replacement schedule and for calculating the annual funding required to renew and upgrade these assets over the long term.

This paper refers to a tool that can be used to facilitate the implementation of these methods. This process forms an important part of a long term financial plan, but it does not by itself constitute a long term financial plan.
